- Summary: A truly killer system
-
- Want an Amiga and a Mac, but can't decide? Check out this Amiga 3000 set up:
-
- A3000/25 with 2 MB chip, 8MB fast ram.
- I used 1x4 parts, so there is room for another 8 MB of ram. It was a
- developer's machine, so it has the soft-kick roms. Currently it is running
- KS 3.0. It has the upgraded SCSI chip to prevent bus lockups. It comes
- with a 100mb HD, with a working AmiTCP/ PPP install and other goodies. I
- will throw in some graphics software to get you started, including a copy
- of Scala. The only flaw with this system is with the keyboard; the left
- shift and alt keys were broken off. The shift key has been glued back on,
- but I have lost the alt key, and had to replace it with an arrow key from
- another keyboard.
-
- GVP Spectrum 24 graphics card with 2MB of video ram. It is using the
- shareware Cybergraphics RTG system, which limits screen depth to 64k. The
- full version doesn't have these limitations, it will do full 24bit for
- such applications as Brilliance, ImageFX, etc. Zorro-III autodetect has been
- enabled on this card, so it is quite fast -- Quicktime movies play back very
- nicely on "the mac side" of this computer.
-
- Emplant Deluxe with two Mac serial ports and 1 SCSI port.
- I will include a Zip cartridge with a bootable Mac OS and utilities with
- this machine. Add a Zip drive, and you have a Mac, complete with full
- networking support (including MacTCP/PPP and Netscape).
-
- Vlab Y/C Video Digitiser.
- An internal video digitiser that offers very good image quality and the
- ability to do batch video captures with conventional VCRs. The results
- can be quite impressive. It comes with the latest software. Works great
- with ImageFX and ADPro.
-
- This system has been used as a home computer/multimedia dabbler system for
- the last 7 years. It has been a real joy to own; not a bit of trouble at
- all. I hope that my A500 (I'm not getting rid of all my Amigas) is as
- reliable. Mac compatability is quite good; I have this system networked
- to a Powerbook 180 using plain old PhoneNet connectors as I'm writing
- this. All boxes, docs included.
-
- I'll throw in a box of goodies, all Amiga related. I'm not interested in
- splitting this system up, the combination of display card/emplant/Vlab
- makes for a fantastic cross platform enviroment. However, here's how I
- came up with my asking price:
-
- Amiga 3000 -- $550.00
- Emplant -- $150.00
- GVP Spectrum -- $200.00
- Vlab Y/C -- $200.00
-
- I'm asking $1100.00 (COD), but feel free to make an offer. I will trade
- for a PowerMac 7200/90. Preference given to local (RDU/RTP) area.
-
- Respond via email.
